January 26 events

There are a number of events taking place in Victoria to mark January 26 - you are invited to Share the Spirit at the Balit Narrun Festival, Treasury Gardens - featuring Dan Sultan, Archie Roach, food and craft stalls, children's entertainment, and more ...  To be preceded by the 2018 Invasion Day Rally in the Melbourne CBD.  And don't forget there's the Belgrave Survival Day Festival, this year featuring Gawurra Gaykamangu.


Tunnerminnerwait and Maulboyheenner Commemorations

Commemorative ceremonies in honour of Tunnerminnerwait and Maulboyheenner will be held in Melbourne and Wonthaggi on Saturday 20th January on the anniversary of their execution.


Yalukut Weelam Ngargee Festival

Yalukut Weelam Ngargee is a free Indigenous Arts and Cultural Festival held annually in St Kilda’s O’Donnell Gardens, a significant contemporary Indigenous meeting place.


Apology Tenth Anniversary Event

2018 marks the tenth anniversary of the National Apology to the Stolen Generations by the Australian Government.  To commemorate this you are all invited to a morning tea organised by Link-Up Victoria and Connecting Home in partnership with the City of Darebin.

Sorry Day and Bringing Them Home Report Anniversary

National Sorry Day is a nation-wide observance held on May 26 each year.  This day gives people the chance to come together and share the steps towards healing for the Stolen Generations, their families and communities.

As a united act of solidarity we encourage you to attend some of the many Aboriginal led events this Sorry Day.


Victorian Reconciliation Network Forum - on Dja Dja Wurrung Country

Protests against forced closures

The third global call to action to stop the forced closures of remote Aboriginal communities takes place 26 - 28 June.  Once again there will be rallies happening all over Australia.
